What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a way of identifying any imbalances a person may have by testing their ability to hold various muscles throughout the body against pressure applied by the practitioner. Each muscle is related to an organ and an energy pathway called a meridian. Together the muscle, organ and meridian form a circuit. If there is an imbalance in any part of the circuit it will be difficult to hold the muscle against the pressure applied and the muscle will feel weak or spongy. Where there are no imbalances present then it will be effortless to hold the muscle against the applied pressure, the muscle will feel strong.

How is Kinesiology used?

When a weak muscle is identified it is possible using various methods to find out if the weakness is Physical – an injury or strain in the muscle, bones or other structure, Chemical – nutrient deficiency, food intolerance, pollution, chemicals, Energetic – a blockage in the flow of energy through the meridians or in the persons life force, or Mind – stresses caused by negative thoughts, feeling, worries, anxiety or emotions. The practitioner is then able to determine the appropriate course of treatment in order to correct the various imbalances. This may include gentle structural realignment, reflex massage, nutritional supplements, allergy treatment, meridian brushing, flower remedies, emotional stress release, or various other techniques. When the appropriate treatment applied and the muscle retested, a previously weak or spongy muscle will test strong.
